Getting Ready for WSA 2027: What Singapore Innovators Should Know

The World Summit Awards are entering a new chapter, and the next call for applications is closer than it looks. Whether you’re a startup, an agency or a student team, here’s what’s changing and how to give your solution the best chance of being nominated from Singapore.

WSA is entering its next phase

In June 2026, WSA announced WSA 3.0, a plan to scale the awards towards 2030 and the UN’s review of the Sustainable Development Goals. Three changes stand out for entrants:

  • A wider global network. WSA is decentralising, moving its secretariat to the Global South and giving National Experts a bigger role in coordinating their regions and nominations.
  • AI in the process. AI will support the call for nominations, and “AI for good” will form part of how the jury evaluates entries and selects winners.
  • A focus on scale and young innovators. WSA is putting more weight on digital natives and social entrepreneurs who can grow their impact, and the WSA Young Innovators call returns in 2027.

What hasn’t changed: WSA still looks for live digital solutions with real, measurable impact on society, and each country still nominates one solution per category.

The 2026 cycle, in brief

The WSA26 call for nominations ran worldwide from 15 June to 15 October 2026. National Experts are now finalising their nominations for the global round, and an international jury will select this year’s winners in the coming months. Earlier this year, ten Global Champions were chosen from the 2025 winners at the WSA Global Congress in Vienna.

The next call is expected around mid-2027. That gives you roughly six months to prepare a strong entry.

Five things to prepare now

1. Gather evidence of impact

The jury wants proof, not promises. Collect user numbers, outcomes, testimonials and any independent recognition from the last three years. If your solution has been around longer, focus on what’s new since then.

2. Pick your category early

WSA has eight categories, from Government & Citizen Engagement to Environment & Green Energy. Choose the one where your impact is strongest, not the one that sounds closest. Browse the categories.

3. Prepare your story in English

All WSA applications are in English. Draft a short, clear description of the problem you solve, who you serve and what has changed because of you.

4. Make sure it’s live and working

Prototypes and concepts aren’t eligible, and a solution that breaks during judging can be disqualified. Make sure the version jurors will see is stable and accessible.

5. Check your rights

You’ll need to own, or have licensed, everything you submit, from images and video to software.

Think you’re eligible?

Singapore-based organisations can enter, and your impact can be in Singapore, the region or worldwide. Entry is free. Not sure which category fits? Read our FAQ or get in touch.
